[7 Days to Die] Trader Hugh's Store

One of the most recent projects I was assigned was to provide assets for Trader Hugh's store, which needed gun posters, signage, photographs, displays and more. For many of these, I used Blender to export the models with and without example lineart. I would then draw over them using Rebelle's excellent brush system, and bring the project into Photoshop for the final result. For others, I simply made them entirely in Illustrator or Photoshop, such as the target practice signs.

Some of the assets are a bit different in the final version - these are taken from the A21 Preview stream.

(Note: Inaccuracies fixed in final version)

The "gas actuated pistol" Desert Eagle inspired pistol was a blast to sketch out. I rendered out views of the pistol using Blender and then did a drafting-table style chalk drawing on the outlines.

A similar method was used on this "Post-apocalyptic automatical tactical rifle", but I also disassembled the attachments. The tape/wraps on the barrel and grip were a pain in the ass to draw out.

This one was tricky, because by design it had to be more detailed. I used the same rendering process in the last two images, but disassembled the mesh to get individual parts as well. I also heavily referenced real AK-47 posters for detail.

These targets were a blast to design, and I had a lot of fun with the zombie concepts especially. The simpler designs (largest, and the bottom middle) are the ones that will be actually used.

I painstakingly recreated every ribbon I could find for these assets, although the medals had to be adjusted as they used icons (Eagles and certain other symbols) that could not be featured in the game.

For the signage, I tried to create signs that I could absolutely see a hard ass like Hugh taking a liking to. It really speaks to his "Asshole" persona that he wears so well.

These flags were made combining stock imagery and generic symbols, meant to reference existing ideas while hopefully not trampling on the original meaning of any of them.

(Two of these images (the tank and bottom right jet) are different from these original concepts.)
