[7 Days to Die] Chemistry Bench Assets

(Note: Any and all information in these assets may not be accurate to the actual lore of 7 Days to Die. I wrote these myself with some guidelines, and these are, at most, the understandings of a lone weirdo in the wasteland of Navezgane. Also, as this is a preview for A22 (or beyond), these assets may change wildly. In other words: If you're making a lore youtube video, y'better put a big fat "SPECULATION" on the page!)

A fun project coming in a future update that I got to preview during A21's Dev Stream! I was tasked with producing some assets for the chemistry station, which will be getting a new model in Alpha 22.

I wanted to really make this asset a love letter to the game's rich history, so I researched as many inside jokes and changes about 7 Days to Die as I could. The whiteboard is, in particular, a reference to this. For creation of these assets, I took a different approach: I actually did them! I wrote these messages on sticky notes, a whiteboard, and journal pages! I then scanned the assets and used photoshop to bring out the linework as best as I could.

The final Sticky Note assets. I have no idea how many of these will actually be used, but I tried to cover a wide variety of subjects - recipes, inside jokes, lore information, and more.

Here is a picture of some of the physical Sticky Notes I actually wrote on, before scanning them and editing them to be used as Substance Painter assets.

The whiteboard was a ton of work - I went and bought a huge whiteboard and sat at my desk drawing. I looked up in-game recipes, controversial changes, inside jokes, and more. I really wanted this to be a love letter to the game's dedicated fans.

The top three pages are the actual pages I wrote and scanned myself. The bottom three are swapped around assemblies to get some generic looking pages. (Note: Information in pages may not be accurate, I wrote everything and I'm very tired all the time).

The journal pages were an ordeal to do physically, and not something I'd recommend. I feel like you can tell when something is actually handwritten, so I wanted to make sure it looked that way. My hand HURT after doing this.

The final asset to tie it all together was the "Higashi Genetics" logo and bottle labels. These were done digitally, referencing existing bottle designs.
